I read your Lou Diamond piece and recall an old TV show many years ago called "The Marine Who Was 100 Years Old", the legend of Lou Diamond. I believe it may have been on the Armstrong Theater or one of those old drama shows. Ward Bond played Lou and he was born for the part. Mostly to my recollection it was about his trek around the world to rejoin his outfit after ditching the hospital. I served in the Corps from June '55 to Dec. '59 ( had to extend for six months to get ET school at Great Lakes). While stationed at P.I. during the SSGT McKeon episode assigned to RTC Training Aids, I assisted his defense by putting together (splicing) all the training film we could find in which there were troops in water. I don't know if the film was shown at trial, but Mac was over to the TAL going through the reams of film with me. I sensed his great remorse instantly. Lastly, I took part in operation Bluebat, Bierut in 1958 serving as a Radio Operator in Naval Guns with H Bat. 10th Mar. attached to 3rd-6th Mar. Twenty five years later my eldest son Andy rotated from Bierut just two weeks prior to the bombing. My nephew Lt.Col. Jim Zientek is slated to take command of 3-6 this September
