How ya doing?  Just great I hope...Winter time down there!!!  Hope it is not too bad a one...Hotter than the outback here...

ED turned me on to Style sheets....boy what a drama....but i am learning bit by bit.  I am using a style builder that has 30 days free trial and it is nice but not a heck of alot of LAYWOMEN instructions...

But I got to admit that it is the way to go with building webpages. Once ya get it down it is really easy to carry on.

got a bit of a problem though...and figured that you would know about what to do...

1. My sliding menu won't work in the page...I know I probably make a navagation table in the style sheet but...have not gotten that far...LMBO...

2. and bigest is the style for the scroll bar on the right...

I have seen some pages that put it in the style sheet but so far I can't get it to work in the sheet. And It won't work in the page like it does when you don't do a style sheet.  I am really up a tree here...

Hate to bother you because I am sure it is a easy fix...but....I have been at it for 2 weeks now....and still stuck.

the url of the site. http://digitalartistinc.com/

the url of the css:   http://digitalartistinc.com/johnson.css

don't look at all the garbage in the style sheet...I have other things in there that I am not using on this page but might use on another...kind of like a template that won't work till I put the words in the webpage.

take it easy

TA TA for now

the doctype

as I thought, when I read your problem.. I think you will have problem to get the page valid by using this doctype (xHtml 1.0 strict) because it does not allow scrollbar-colors. (it is a microsoftIE-only thing, you know)
Try instead another doctype: <!doctype html public "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
with 4.1 it will be valid when taking off the slashes at the single tags : "...so-8859-1" /> " remove the slash "/".

You are on the right way .. go on

Ed, I am using the strict because that is what the Style instructions say to use....LOL

will the style (CSS) work with the other? Remember I am an infant at this style sheet business...LOL

Thanks.

Hi KD

xHtml 1.0 strict is alot more stricter in coding making it more difficult to play with

Once you become as experienced as Ed , the move to XHTML 1.0 will be alot easyer, plus begin with "Transitional" to see if "Strict" will be for you.

Some Constructive criticism -
Try to start Using and sticking to lowercase tags (never mind what others may say like the old days when case-sensative tags were an issue it doesn't seem to be as important with HTML nowa days) as this will make the move to xHtml easyer which is case-sensative

Wow...that jet was 30000 miles above my head...LOL

XHTML???????   all I wanted to do was learn how to do pages in style (CSS) as ED suggested...so that I would not have to do tables...LOL

the question is (why I used Strict is because the Style instructions said to) can I do CSS in the one that ED suggested?  I really would like to beaboe to mix and match because some of the things I want to put in such as the scroll color and also when I try to  put the sliding menu in it is there but the outside menu bar is very wide and not just a little strip...

so I will go away for now and practice using the other as ED suggested...

ED gave me a wonderful link to a template style sheet and it really helped me understand about some of the dividers...

Ya know I don't come and ask questions till I have exhausted my brain trying to get things to work....

Because I am not limited by Pariguimes (what should and shoul not be done LOL) I tend to try any and all thoughts that come to mind..  Ed was surprised that I was able to use the DIV to do a table in the forum and not the whole table format.

I used the whole table format for the first little box I amde that is dark brown but the light  Notice board box and the box in the footer are just div's...

I am begening to understand the soruce codes a bit better....

and why one will look different than others.  I have been just mixing and matching....kind of cross breeding....LMBO...

yipeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   thanks guys you are a God send......it works.....haven't tryed the menu yet...hang on let me see......HEY, GREAT NEWS....IT ALSO WORKS LIKE A DREAM......BLESS YA BOTH....
