Spam emails with hotmail

You know how you get spammed emails from whoever...well how can you stop that...
For example, I got a couple of emails the other day, as did my husband who also has a hotmail address and I noticed the names in both mine and his were all similiar to ours, such as our first/last name, or email names etc, if you know what I mean...this infuriates and frustrates me, because hotmail has a junk mail filter, but this is hopeless and secondly its not use blocking them, because half the time they will get back to you again with a totally made up email address...by the way, while I wrote you this, I received another, with a guy advertising a porn site...now I'm really pissed off!!

Hotmail sucks....

There's not much you can do with hotmail.
Do you have your addy advertised???

I just looked at the "options/Mail Handling" for the first time, I see what you mean.

Take a look at the source code of this page and look at the bottom of the page and see how I hide my addy from spam bots (its the only way I adv my addies) it must work as I havn't had any spam thro hotmail (I lie - I got 1 the week I signed up), Spammers have spiders collecting every single email on its travel thro the internet.

Have you DL/updated MSN Messenger with the latest update, cause there's some crap also downloaded and installed which you can disable from starting up.
-----------------------------------------
win98: In "msconfig" uncheck "loadqm.exe"
win95: In the "Registry" goto "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" and delete the key "LoadQM" which is in the right pane (if you don't know what your doing then you better BACKUP the registry first).
------------------------------------------

There was some talk a while ago about "Microsoft QMgr" which is loaded by loadqm.exe to do with MSN Explorer is a program that lets the "community" of MSN
users know when you are online, etc and now bundled with MSN Messenger...

maybe your spam, who knows

I'm running msn msg without the crap and so far seems ok, so I could tell you at a later date weather its ok to remove

O yea use the firewall to block "Qmgr" when it wants to access the internet (I can't give you anymore details than that as I removed the startup reference as soon as the installation finished LOL)

I'll check out that url asap, but I ended up having to get rid of Zone Alarm because it messes up with my reservations software, as I can't login to the International Reservations database if I use Zone Alarm...I've actually found Norton very effective for me, but one software I don't like is McAfee...

Hotmail spamming

August 16 2001, 4:47 AM

...that is totally crazy...fortunately I wasn't one of those, however when you get, and I still do now and then get emails that have your email address (as in mine) and other email addresses similiar to yours, you get real annoyed...I forwarded a few of them to abuse@hotmail.com as that is what it is, and what did they say....you're going to laugh at this

"we have no control over that as it is not a hotmail based account, what we suggest is either blocking that email address, or alternatively you can place them in your junk mail filter"

GIVE ME A BREAK, if what I read from that url you gave me to check out is true (and I don't doubt it) then the junk mail filter is just a joke!
