I'm looking into the family line of a friend of mine. She says she is the last of her family line of Shepherds. Her grandfather John Roy? Shepherd was born abt 1892 in Trimble County. He was first married to a Mayme Yeager but she died Jan 8, 1912. Her dad was a William Yeager. John Roy then married another Mamie Taylor? (unsure of surname, but family was from Illinois). He had a son named Roy Yeager Shepherd (not sure which Mamie/Mayme was mom). Roy has a brother named Bernard. Not sure who his mother was either. Story has it John Roy killed himself in the barn after finding out his wife was unfaithful. He is buried at Sligo in Henry County, KY.
The son, Roy Yeager Shepherd died in 1986. He was married to Annabelle Murray June 4, 1930. They both are buried at the cemetary behind Cracker Barrel in LaGrange. Their children were Betty Lee Shepherd and Mary Lou Shepherd Watson (who died in 1971 of cancer). Annabelle had a sister who lived in Albuguerque, NM that never married but has since passed.
All these people are gone with the exception of Betty and she does not remember any more than this. She doesn't want the line to end without some story. I would like to help her find out any more info. I'm looking for any stories of this family and/or help in finding out who John Roy Shepherd's parents might have been. A million thanks,
Donnie
