Hello,
I just got a Morgan colt for my birthday, he is six months old. I know I have a few years before I can ride him, I want to show him western, but I wanted t know how you can get morgans to arch their neck and hold their head down low for western showing classes. Also, I have been working with him to try to get him to stand like a morgan for halter classes next year, can anyone give me some tips? Please?

Thanks

Something that we tried was we got a kitten and used it kind of as "bait". Hopefully that might help a little!

for his head u might want to wait till u can ride him. When u can u can use side reins that attatch to each side of the saddle and up to the bit. Also it comes more naturally to some horses, use a lot of leg.

Why the arched neck?

Have you ever watched a herd of wild horses run, move, play? They don't carry themselves with arched necks, low to the ground....so why do people force it? Teach your horse love, compassion...earn your horses trust.....at such a young age the horse should be in a pasture playing. Try to be patient and give him some time to just simply be a horse.
