A competent steersperson would avoid an area where a Ferry would be passing. 4 feet from trough to crest is believable, but seriously, if you're going out in that sort of traffic, you're an idiot if you're not wearing your PFD. I blame the steersperson for that one. It's not like that wake just sneaks up on you. There was probably several minutes before they were hit.
