Does anyone in dragonboat train or perform like Adam van k? Oldershaw? Cochrane? Fournel etc. Even the guys who are 14 years old in flatwater train harder than any drsgonboater. Do you get up before work or school and paddle at least 10km? Do you paddle after work then come back before bed and do weights or run? Do you do this every day for years on end? No? Well shut up and start doing it and MAYBE sport Canada will think about making you a varsity sport. There's a reason why 14 year old flatwatwr guys in bob Blake can race dragonboat once a year and still whoop legitimate teams butts. They simply train better with more volume. Kids start going to Florida training for a month long camp at about 14/15. Stop complaining about work or school getting in the way of training and ******* do it. 10 sessions a week is nothing when you think about it. Vank also graduated valedictorian at Mac while training for Beijing, but I'm sure those twice a week dragonboat sessions and maybe a couple gym and run sessions the uni teams do are enough to make you varsity level right? Dream on. Take dragonboat seriously and maybe real sports will take us seriously. Until then be content thinking you're an athlete bc you paddle a couple times a week and do a lot of biceps curls in the gym.
