I was at this race a few years ago. It's got its pros and cons but if you're a die hard dragon boater it's exciting to race where it all started.

1. Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races (22,23/ 6/2002)
2. Local Events, including Stanley Dragon Boat Championships (15/6/2002)
--------------------------------------------

Dear friends

Greetings from Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Dragon Boat Association now confirms the date for the HK International Dragon Boat Races 2002. It will be staged in the weekend 22, 23 June - just 7 days after Duen Wu (Tuen Ng) Festival proper.

Sorry for such delay of confirmation date this year as we are eagerly waiting for the itinerary of our VIP , Premier Zhu Rongji. Another reason is that this year's event will be part of the highlights to commemorate the 5th year of Hongkong's Reunification with the Motherland and trophies may be named as such. Lots of other negotiation work need to be worked out.

For those whose miss the old venue of the early years of the international festival, Tsim Sha Tsui East, this year you will enjoy the stunning Victoria Harbour view again as we are setting a new venue at downtown Wan Chai waterfront, outside the Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Please also note that the HKDBA has just launched a new web site ( www.hkdba.com.hk) while email enquiry remains hkdba@hksdb.org.hk.
Please update your hyperlink.

Please also note that Hong Kong has lots of large scale local events one week in advance for you to warn up and enjoy the real taste of Tuen Ng festival in China, the origin of the sport of dragonboating. Hong Kong waits for your participation.

For details of the Stanley Dragon Boat Championships, the largest "local" dragon boat event in the world, please visit
www.dragonboat.org.hk

We saw 143 teams of diverse nationalities raced in Stanley Main Beach in a single-day event last year. This year, webcasting on 15 June will be arranged again by Radio Television HK (Radio 3) , the local counterpart of the BBC.

So is this the festival that Flexogan is going to race at? After all, they won the Island last year, and won tickets to go to Asia this year, didn't they?
