Hanalei Dragonboat club is looking for a few extra bodies for the 2005 season. As with many other teams, due to turnover, retirement and just life in general…..we’ve found our roaster a little short for the season. If you fall into either category (below), we’d love to hear from you:
1. Individual(s) who are relatively fit, experienced (ideally) who are looking for a fun competitive crew (males and females).
or
2. Any competitive team(s) that are finding themselves in a similar situation (short a few bodies).
*A good team attitude and ability to drink beer are must have requirements.
If you’re interested or have additional questions regarding our plans, future goals or other details, we’d love to hear from you. You can contact me via email: michaelmah1069@hotmail.com
Who is your new coach? I understand that Mike Devine is leaving.

Well, if Mike is leaving who can blame him? How long can anyone survive in a roaster?

Explain? Is there something you know that the rest of the world does not. Please keep the rumours flying that is all they are.

No way. Users of this pristine forum would never spread negative rumors about other teams.

What about Hanalei-Lightning.....Pirahna-Beach....Royal Bank-Mojos etc etc.
In order to compete with the elite, wannabees are combining rather than recruiting newbies to the sport.

"A" Level teams are almost never developed "from within", or from newbies. Mostly they occur when a solid nucleus of a corporate or community team builds momentum through consistent almost "A" level results, and begins to draw talent from other teams.
Recruiting totally new participants to the sport makes up a very small percentage of the roster of Championship teams.
Combining squads is a nice short cut, but probably happens more as a result of losing half your team to attrition than as a means of building a contender. Scotia Beach being the possible exception.

Imps were Sing Tao, Amex, and later on a couple of Sinai paddlers. But no Starchoice, those guys were loons.
