Stouffville - Great Venue!!June 11 2005 at 7:19 PM | Irene- Toronto Masters |
| Congratulations to Jeff and his team at Paddles Up for a great venue at Stouffville. The Toronto Masters thank you for putting on such a fun yet competitive race. Everything ran so smoothly on the water and on deck!
Great job Big Fish on finishing first, Scotia and Jetstart for the solid competition in the "A" final. The Toronto Masters had the opportunity to learn from some great teams and hope to implement our findings at our Sudbury race-off for Club Crew berth in 2006.
To all the other paddlers, thanks for you support in buying our 50/50 draw tickets --- As mentioned by that personable, excellent announcer, we'll be drawing the lucky ticket on Tuesday and someone will win a 'cool' $500. |

I don't know if I would say that anyone walked away with it, but they look sharp and had impressive races in both "A" finals.
Not sure what they were thinking at the GWN 3000, but whatever they did between these two races sure seems to be working.
Lots of good racing, UC WaterDragons and Scotia Rouge had good days as well as Toronto Masters and CIBC pulling a great time in the 250 B final (Faster than the A final. Yeah I know conditions and all that, but it was still FAST).
All in all a great day, perfect weather, swimmable water (as Fish showed after the 500 final), on time, 250's and 500's with deep even lanes. Can't figure out why more teams weren't there. Good prized to. Medals and/or Hats and free or discounted entry for next year for the top three teams and many divisions winners. |

Actually Scotia had two teams at Stouffville, Scotia Rouge AND Scotia Spitfires.
The Scotia at Stouffville was in fact "Scotia Rouge", but without the "Rouge". So they were called Scotia Rouge but didn't have their Rouge paddlers with them that day. Similar to last year when they didn't have their Beach paddlers with them. So they get some of their "B" team paddlers to fill out their "A" boat.
We all know that they would have been faster with their entire "A" crew.

| a lot of fun | June 14 2005, 9:46 AM |
Stouffville was a lot of fun. I've been at the festival both years, and yes, the venue is great.
If your team's lucky enough to grab a spot along the fence, it's even better - you have a great vantage point to watch the races. You sit about 30 feet off the water, right before the finish.
The announcer was pretty funny, but at some points I wished he would've shut up so that I could've listened to the music. His best line came at the end of the day, when Paddling in Unisen decided to go for a team swim - "Paddling in Unisen has gone into the water in Unisen".
And that Water Trampoline was great!!! | |
