NACCC - Who is going? Is it worth it?

Read earlier posts. Are we for once going to get top tier Canadian and USA crews competing against each other? Or are we getting waterdown USA crews again? Who actually is going?

If you're sitting on the fence, you already missed the provisional deadline.

Final deadline won't be until after Calgary race off to give the western losers time to enter.

You guys are a bunch of idiots. You are either quick on dissing a US team, or other teams from another part of Canada. A good athlete knows to respect all their competitors. I know there are a few teams (US & Canadian) that I dislike, however, I do respect their competitive nature to want to win. And I know that any given day the team I paddle for may have a bad and lose, but that is part of racing. Win or lose - but with sportmenship.

Is there a list of crews posted somewhere?

That's one way to read it

Maybe by saying "western losers" he/she meant the losers of the Western region club crew selection race.

Or maybe they meant it both ways. So it's either a poor choice of words, or a clever one (although a little rude).

Personally I hope some crews from the west DO race at NACCC. We don't see nearly enough of them in these parts.

NACCC information

July 21 2005, 6:22 PM

Hi to all entered and interested in entering the NACCC. My appologies for not updating the NACCC web pages.

We have close to 50 teams entered including many from Montreal, Toronto, Philadelphia and New York. Pacific Reach is coming from Vancouver and I understand they are a very good team. The list of entries to date will be posted this weekend.

We have extended the deadline until after the Calgary and Long Beach race-offs to permit teams who need a second chance an opportunity to do so at Welland.

I know many of you are patiently waiting for additional information and I promise Bulletin 2 and other documents will be posted this weekend.

Note that we have had several requests to move the 2000m race from Friday late afternoon to Saturday and Sunday late, late afternoon. I'm wondering if this is the concensus out there? I'd appreciate any feedback you can give me.

Some of you know that we have installed a permanent 1000m race course. Further improvements such as held starts and starters towers will be ready for NACCC. We will also be using the shadow lane system so combined with our deep water this will be produced at a very high level. We are also building a state-of-the-art timing tower but that won't be done until next spring.

I understand the University Cup was rained out in Waterloo last weekend. If there is any interest to re-race this event (2-3 races on one day, Saturday or Sunday) at NACCC then please let me know.

Of course I am happy to answer any questions but please email me rather than using this forum if your question is anything other than very general.

If you haven't booked your accommodation, please do so as soon as possible.

I will also be in Berlin next week so I look forward to possibly meeting some of you who are with the national team between races.

Mark

MARK please list the crews that are attending and what categories. It will give us a better look whether to attend or not. Last time therr were hardly any USA crews, even though it was advertised a heavy USA entry. Thanks.

Great to see Pacific Reach out there (even if it means a few Eastern teams getting a slice of humble pie)..I looked at your website and you have an old Mayfair paddler on your team?

Looks like they've posted some info

DBC has posted some more stuff, including a list of teams attending so far (it's in the info bulletin).

Pickering will not be there.

Scotia will be there qualifying to race off in Montreal (IE: they will not be eligable for a spot)

Didn't Scotia qualify in Pickering?

July 25 2005, 10:51 AM

They raced there no?

Scotia

Still needs to pre-qualify their Open team.

Their mixed team is eligible for a sanction though, based on Pickering.

Wrong.

They didn't register the team with DBC for Pikering. I am pretty sure they are pre-qualifying both at NACCC. Could be wrong there if they got around that somehow.

Anything is possible.

Where are DCH and MAD? Portland paddling has broken up. Wasabi is not as good as it used to be. San Diego is the powerhouse on the West. They already won all the entries that they need.

Awesome

August 3 2005, 11:01 PM

It'll be great to see increased participation from the USA. Philly is going to knock some teams off the podium and perhaps hurt some feelings and egos because a lot of teams are going to get knocked out of their precious A divison (and therefore medals) - but this is what it's all about..racing at its finest. Been looking forward to this for 2 years.

Also looking forward to see MAD again.

P.s. Rob says he is not a weenie

Fine day of racing

August 5 2005, 10:17 AM

Someone once said, and many have probably said it, one way for a young team to improve is by getting their ass spanked by the top teams. I'm sure there are endless combinations of factors for a team to improve.

I for one, am looking forward in competing side by side against some of our countries best.

I know our team won't be taking the event, but i know our team (and I speak for some of the up and coming teams), we all have the hearts to do our best, and when it comes to race day.

Bring it on!!!

DO IT DO IT ..... DO IT
