NACCC Entries

August 14 2005 at 4:44 PM

I was told that I'd be taking my chances posting on this forum but I don't even know how to paddle and am not on a team so what could someone possibly bad-mouth me about?

So here is the updated entry list for NACCC minus a few who seem to be administratively challenged. Thanks to all who are racing in Welland. We welcome you and it should be a good one.

Mark. Is there still time to enter this event? I have to admit my crew was out of the loop on this one but we'd really like to race at this level.

check out that Mixed team list. How hard will it be to make any of those finals. Good god

I say that Welland NACCC gets a 3.0 multiplier. Making top 10 in that is insane... Can't wait.

Congrats to the GWN Premier Men and the Montreal DBC Men. Once again Premier Open spots have been won by acclimation. That makes three out of five (including PDBC Open). Not sure about the one out west.

FCRCC won the premier men out west. That leaves the Montreal regatta for the 5th and final spot.

Are they not racing?

Mark
Thank you for posting this.
Am I correct with the following assumptions:
1) "Race off" means the team is competing for a spot in the world CC next year.
2) "Qualifier" means the team is racing here so they qualify as a club crew. The team will then race off in Montreal for a world CC spot.
3) If 2 or fewer teams are registered to " race off" then they automatically get a spot for 2006 world CC.

I think you will find that "Qualifier" means all teams who are not "Race Off". So that includes teams just there for the competition and not trying out for anything.

GWN Premier Men....hmmm...did they race in Berlin as seniors?I am confused as to who they are.

Win by default

August 15 2005, 3:34 PM

"Congrats to the GWN Premier Men and the Montreal DBC Men. Once again Premier Open spots have been won by acclimation."

Congrats to the following teams also. It looks like they win the right to represent Canada by default:

Senior Women GWN A & B (no one else signed up)
Senior Mixed Eat Trout (other teams are listed "qualifying")
Jr Mixed Pickering (no one else signed up)
Jr Mixed Stratford (no one else signed up)
Jr Women Pickering (no one else signed up)

It must be a bit anticlimatic for them.

Do teams that automatically qualify for the 2006 World CC even need to show up ?

If a team qualifies for WCCC by default, regardless of whether they race the race of their lifetimes or paddle backwards while twirling parasols or don't show up altogether, they still go to WCCC. For instance, PDBC men did not have to show up to Sudbury, as there were no challengers.

What's the website for NACCC?

Who gets the money for all the entry fees for these qualifiers since the teams don't earn trophies?

So do Race Off teams race against Qualifier teams?

How does the race structure work?

If there are only 2 berths at Welland, is it possible for a Qualifier team to bump off a Race Off team from racing in the final race for a berth?

The North American Club Crew Championships is a regatta unto itself, so both "race off" teams and "qualifiers" will race against each other and advance to whatever final they wind up in based on performance. But the top 2 Canadian teams in each racing class that are also "race off" eligible will win sanctions to race at the 2006 Club Crew World Championships.

They could be 1st and 2nd place, 2nd and 4th place, 1st and 5th place overall, doesn't matter. But no matter how high a "qualifier" places, they don't get a sanction.

Those listed as "qualifier" can "race off" in Montreal in September.

I think American teams can also win sanctions at the NACCC, but since there are only 2 of them, it may be automatic.
