Best Uniforms (2005)

August 15 2005 at 12:30 AM
Boy George

Every festival is like a fashion show for teams to strut their stuff in their uniforms. We've seen everything from plain Fruit of the Loom cotton t-shirts hastily marked up to cutting edge dri-fit technology team shirts (and everything in between). Let's discuss what you saw and what you liked, including things like:

- Best uniform design
- Best team logo
- Best uniform fit
- Most innovative uniform design

Let's try to keep things positive. Include things like the team name(s) and the festival(s) that you've seen these teams wear their uniforms.

Most Improved

How about a category for most improved uniform?

I nominate Shogun.

Those new red, grey and white jerseys they have are a huge improvement over those Dundas Station green (ew) ones they had last year.

Riptide vs Tempest

August 16 2005, 4:19 PM

Now they're UNIFORMS are talking smack!

"My shirt can beat your shirt!"

"No it can't, you just had a better lane!"

"See you at GWN."

"No, see YOU in Kelowna."

Justin: Am I ashamed of the fact that our shirts are the 2005 Uniform Champions? Hell no! Our shirts CANNOT and WILL NOT be denied! You are all just jealous. Grrrrrr, gargle, sputter, ACH!

Chester: Justin, get back in your box.

I love some of the uniforms the ladies from the Breast Cancer Survivor teams wear. They're clearly happy to be there with their friends and those fantastic pink boas, wigs, etc are very eye catching. Well done ladies.

Mofos

Do the Mofo mean even have a uniform? I always see them topless. I do see the women wearing theirs, though...dammit.

Jetstart's uniform is very bright and colourful, no mistaking who they are when they're on the water

I'm sorry Jetstart, you guys are great and I like running into you at festivals, but your uniforms are ugly. It's true that they are very unique and that there is no mistaking you for anyone else though.

I suppose judging the best uniform doesn't necessarily mean what the uniform looks like by itself, but rather, how it looks like on the team. For example, I'd say a simple lasenza teddy would make for a GREAT uniform.... as long as its not on a guy! Similarly the form fit tops work better for a Mofo than lets say, a sumo wrestler. And I guess the jetstart uniform suites the team dynamic personality more than a rather quiet, reserved team such as MCC. And last but not least, beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

I liked the New Dragonz uniforms. I liked the racerback style and the white color. I may be mistaken or haven't been to a lot of regattas but I don't think I've seen jerseys with racerbacks this year.

I also like the Hammerheads' shirts - with the different color sleeve depending on which side they paddled in.

And I have to agree with the Manchu Wok uniforms! Awesome..

Hey DBnewbie..you liked the New Dragons uni eh? hah I think those look good on Girls..but isn't necessarily meant for GUYS if you look more at the team photos.

I want to see those Manchu Wok unis!

Where did these teams go for their team uniform? Regatta Sport? True North? Any issues? Cost - was it reasonable?

Nice!

Junk in the Trunk was sporting some sweet jerseys at GWN. I'd even wear one in public (they looked like CoolMax golf shirts)!

Any feedback on what they were like to paddle in? Price? Source?

Jetstart... they still have the same bright blue red yellow shirt? I used to like them. But if they are the same shirts, they need to design new ones. No offense, I like Jetstart crew, just my 2 cents...
