It's so disgusting that some 'Anonymous' posters always rip into the TCBA about Dragon boating. While the TCBA needs to re-evaluate their present day contribution to the sport of dragon boat racing and make it more affordable to all, we all need to take a look back and see the contribution that the TCBA and the TIDBRF has given to Dragon Boating in Toronto and in Canada as a whole.

By having the Island race they have exposed to a lot of non-traditional athletes, couch potatoes and washed up sprint canoe paddlers to a new sport that keeps their fast fading youth active., instead of telling tall tales of past ‘semi glories’ in paddling you get to boast you are on a national team or a coach of the dragon boat race team. Instead of getting fat on bon-bons you get to paddle, instead of living a lonely existence you get to be on a team with other lonely self centered individuals to complain about the sport you ‘love’ and bash GWN, TCBA, Dragon Boat World Magazine, Stratford, Buk, SRS, Grey Owl, Regatta Sport, Mofos, Riptide, Imps, MCC, 2PP Rule, IDBF, ICF, Mike K, Larry and whomever may have a finger in the pot.

You bash the island race, you don’t like the location, where would you like the TIDBRF to be held? Don River, Humber, Sunnyside? There are NOT many venues to host Dragon Boat Races in Toronto.

GWN has the summer sizzler only 10+ teams attend... why? you don’t like the location...
Summer Sensation: 15 teams why? Don’t like the location.
Ontario Place: Complaint... too shallow water.
Welland: too far
TIDBRF: complaint ferry and Water not good and too expensive (actually that is true too expensive).
Medals.. Not good enough, Trophies.. not large enough, beer tent non cheap enough or not one at the event.

Have you ever looked at the teams in most dragon boat festivals? There are there for the pure fun of it. 100 teams in an event, 15-20 are the ‘competitive ones’ 80 are there community or fun teams.

With out dragon boat racing in the GTA, many charities would be suffering for much needed funds that dragon boat racing contributes.

If you don’t like the system, make a change, host your own race, buy/make your own boats/paddles/uniforms put your money with your arrogant self righteous voice is.

CCDBA tried and it failed not because of Jeff and Paul but because of you the paddler, Dragon Boat World is trying hard to succeed but you take pot shots of it.

Look in the mirror yourself and see the kind of ignorant idiots who post these and bash the sport

I agree with everything you have said except blaming the "washed up sprint canoe paddler" for the negative attitudes prevalent in the DB community.I believe it to be mainly ppl who got into DBing ,with no flatwater background that are the main pot stirrers...JMHO.Some of the complaints are far too menial to be a sprinter.

Not all that surprising. We have an Anonymous bashing other Anonymous posters for posting anonymously here every few weeks. It will happen again in a few weeks when someone elses feeling gets hurt or their team is being targetted.
