On Friday 31 October 2003 the IDBF Congress meeting in Shanghai voted to hold the 2007 IDBF World Dragon Boat Racing Championships in Sydney. The event will be held at the Sydney International Regatta Centre, Penrith from Sunday 16/9/2007 to Sunday 23/9/2007. Approx. 2,000 competitors from 20 countries are expected to participate.

Looks like a nice site for competition.

IDBF hasn't managed to get more than 20 nations to appear at any WC! Why now?

Not IDBF's fault. Maybe it costs too much for some countries to travel, especially when you're talking paddlers from smaller/poorer countries that pay for racing out of their own pockets.

There will be lots of Asian teams in Sydney , probably more than in China in 2004.
