A little too early. Most festivals haven't posted their date for 2006 yet. Wait until January.

Personally, I think that dragon-boats.net is a great site.
Here's a company that runs festivals but yet has no issues with posting festivals run by their competitiors.
Lists any event (or team) that requests.
I have only been to one event run by Lively, but found it quite enjoyable and well run. (As did other National Team members who were there as coaches)
And before you start.
Those who have any race exeprience know that not every body of water is created equal, nor can we control forces of nature. As flatwater paddlers, we sometimes deal with crosswinds that favour one side of paddler. That's racing. As competitors, you truely are only racing yourself.
Thanks for the website and the chances to challenge ourselves that you provide.

Derek not entirely correct

the guys who run paddlesup.ca run paddlesportracing. The quality of paddlesup.ca is like the quality of their event in stouffville, top notch. Whereas Ramsays site is ok, little dated in style, and their events are mediocre at best.

To Anon @ November 2 2005, 6:36 PM & November 4 2005, 5:41 PM,
Was that really necessary? A person asked for info about festival dates, Jackie responded with some info (using her name too), and you trash her.
There's no need for such negativity (insert obligatory "why can't we all just get along" comment here). If you think PaddlesUp.Ca is a good site, you could've just said that, instead of flaming Jackie's website. No wonder a lot of people won't use their real names here. Speaking of which, I totally respect Derek and others like him who always post with their real names.
And thanks for the "top notch" comment. But, even I don't think PaddlesUp.Ca is a "top notch" site this year (due to my lack of updates to race reports, etc).

so, Jeff, when will your site be updated. I have always thought that it was top notch as well in terms of the race reports, link for festivals, etc. Our team, as well as many others depend on it for planning our season.

Jeff is too broke these days to spend time on the website. Can't even afford a haircut for heavens sake.
heh.
The main problem as I see it is that Jeff was let down by some of his contributing authors this year. Jason did a good job with his race reports, but others, like myself, didn't do their part. Sorry 'bout that. Jeff can't be expected to come up with all the content AND do the webmeister thing AND run Paddlesport AND paddle...etc, etc.
Perhaps next year those of us who enjoy seeing the website updated on a more regular basis will help out by contributing new and interesting content. I'll include myself in that challenge.

Jeff's secret moneymaking plan is to win the upcoming sequel to "Rock Star: Inxs", called "Disco Star: Village People" where the winner gets to be the frontman for the superstar group. His extensive dragon boat experience, plus his recent harbour master certification, should give him the marine knowledge he needs for a killer rendition of "In the Navy". Can anyone donate a construction hat?
