I sense some tension between the Imps and Pirahnas?
Please do tell... |

The Piranhas are not the only team to watch the Imps get into the final at the Welland race-off with their totally cheap protest about the held start being improperly done and "interfering" with their race.
Your protest worked but deal with the negative backlash Imps, you have earned it. |

There is nothing between Piranhas-Beach and the Imperial Dragons. Those who know the history between the two teams should already know this as the founder and coach of the Piranhas made his start and learned alot about dragonboating through his membership on the Imperial Dragons.
The posts above are nothing but groundless shit disturbing. |

But groundless shit disturbing is what makes the forum fun. Everyone gets a say, however informed or uniformed it may be. |

Thanks for all the kind words about Tempest. I just wanted to clarify that we are not the same Toronto based Tempest that competed last year. We are a collective of experienced dragonboaters and former whitewater kayakers.
See you on the water! |

Whitewater kayaking? Thats like comparing downhill skiing to cross country skiing. Both are on snow but that is about the only similarity.
Too bad there is no dragon boat racing course down some rapids.
That would be fun. |

Try the New York Liberty race. Closest thing to white water dragonboating. Great times. |

I have to disagree there. Whitewater kayakers would have an unbelievable ability to feel the water and get connection on a paddle.
Have you ever seen those guys paddle. |

Look out for white water paddlers , if they are racers. They can paddle. I remember when people said marathoners couldn't DB , DBing is sprinting , they are all old etc. We were wrong. Same with white water , except they are are young spinters. Incidentally , a white water stroke is very similar to the stroke used by perhaps the greatest Dragon boat team of all time , the great Shan de from China.
Of course , if the white water guys are recreational paddlers forget it. |

All I can say is
#1. FMG and their anal rules |

| Ooh an FMG basher | February 9 2006, 10:52 AM |
For those of you not familar with FMG (Facility Marketing Group) they are a Dragon Boat Company that runs competitions from BC to Ont, and down to Arizona and Vegas.
Some teams frown on rules such as having PFD's done up, no contact between boats, and no drinking alcohol before your heat. (Ok, maybe that one I'm not a fan of) Hey, these guys pay a bundle for insurance, so they can be as "anal" as they wanna be when it comes to safety rules. If you don't like it, don't enter the competition! |

Dude, you've got a problem if you're defending the FMGhestopo.
Time penalties for letting a paddle tip touch the ground, or for having a pfd zipper not completely done up on the dock are ridiculous rules.
"If you don't like it, don't enter the competition!"
Lots of us doing exactly that. | |
