Is Ontario Place available for GWN?April 26 2006 at 1:21 AM | Green Lantern |

A big Chinese lantern festival overlaps GWN's dates at Ontario Place. Anyone know if it'll affect access to the site? It would really, and I mean REALLY, suck if we were stuck over on the north shore. IMO they'd be better off moving the whole thing to, dare I say it, the new watercourse.
GWN's website doesn't say anything, but I think teams should find out what's up before they commit coin.

This will be a totally cool environment to race in all day and hang out for the evening. |

I think the lantern festival should move to the new course.

I don't think the City is going to approve a festival at Ontario Place when it just spent 23M to put in a new course |

would it be for GWN to hold the event in the crazy uneven section of water when there is a brand new course available within sight of their current start line.
And sure the new course may not have the same water depth 3 feet from shore as it does 3 feet from the new breakwall, but I assure you you could fit 5 way better, deeper and evener lanes in there than you can at Ontario Place.
Now that Mike has an option to solve the problem will he take it? |

You don't think it'll be a problem? Several large exhibits will occupy space that GWN normally uses. They look like elaborate, ornamental displays. Are they going to let us hang our paddles and tarps on them?
GWN is pushing early bird registration without mentioning this. So what's the deal? Does anyone know if paddlers be allowed inside Ontario Place? And if not, is GWN collecting money without mentiong this detail to teams? That'd be a fast way to ruin their rep. It's not like people do GWN for the quality of the race course.

Interesting Dilemna, how does GWN use the new course when they've done nothing but trash it for the last 2 Years, maybe they'll move it to Welland. |

"Another ritual integral to the Mid-Autumn Festival is eating moon cakes, which are round shaped cakes made of lotus paste and egg yokes."
Who cares how they'll do it...

The last I heard (1 month ago) GWN was undecided on where to host the regatta. I'd like to see it at the rock pile. It'd be a shame to spend all that money and not even use it. |
