Go to visit the city, not to paddle. A catastrophe in terms of organization (ask anyone who went in 2004).
Can't bring your own paddle, must use either a 45 or 51 inch club paddle provided by the festival (retarded rule)
Can't wear your own lifevest unless all paddlers wear the same kind and colour (WTF?)
Inexperienced steers (collisions, flipping, etc...)
Peter Lew should be ashamed
2003 festival was cancelled for lack of funding
MAD shows up on the Sunday only and clinches the festival.
'Nuff said.

Boston is a nice city to visit, but not to paddle in. The level of racing is novice at best. I wouldn't go there if you are expecting high level racing.

Agreed. Go to NYC in August or San Fran if you're looking for a real competition.

Boston captures it's own championship from New York MAD after 4 straight years of losing. The curse has been broken!
A championship finals results:
Lane
1 DBCB - Wake Riders 3 2:52.12
2 MAD - Team 1 2 2:40.86
3 DBCB - DrachenFurie 1 2:39.06

Wow some really fast times. Is it a 1000m race coarse?
500-Meter Course
June 27 2006, 11:08 AM
The Boston race course is 500 meters.
The weekend of this year's Boston Dragon Boat Festival involved a relatively strong downstream current going against all teams as the locks at the bottom of the Charles River were open during most of the racing to allow the increased rainwater to flow directly into the harbor. This normally happens during periods of heavy rain in Boston, as was the case on the Saturday of the race.
The current is estimated to have added 20-30 seconds to everyone's times, depending on their lane assignment.
So they beat NY MAD, not like it's a great accomplishment. Who has MAD ever beaten? Whoahday????
