And Verdun and Wongs should be given more credit. |

Verdun is a strong team and you are right, they need more credit. The Wongs are rebuilding their team completely, so do not expect them to be as strong as they were in the previuos years. |

why dont you actually post teams that are coming up the rankings instead of teams that are expected to be up there almost all the time.
the content doesnt have anything to do with the "hot NEW teams" as your post suggests |

O.K. Teams on the rise as compared to previous years. CIBC, Shogun, WRCC 'A' and yes the beasts from out east. Keep in mind as one poster said previously that they'll be beating everyone by the end of the season. A few of the top paddlers from that boat are also with G&G and considering how dominate G&G was in Pickering without a single practice... Well kind of scary eh.
Teams that are on the decline or going through a transition period. Wongs for sure. Thought Verdun would have been faster. Imperial is very very slowly getting weaker. Hammerheads look good and should have beat the Imps at T.O. but see what happens when you call a finish at the 150m marker and spin your weals for the last 15m. I expect better from a veteran crew and veteran coach. Team Jamaica will have to do better to stay with the big boys at the worlds. |

Lets see they did Pickering, and did not impress. They also entered Welland, but also were not impressive there either. |

Hydrophobic isn't all that good. It's simply a matter of the entire two tiers of teams ahead of them did not show up save for 4 crews. Any other day they would be fighting for C division spot. |

Anon 1:43...
I am a Hydrophobic and I admit we are not one of the best teams. Considering that we practice 7 times a year with maybe 65% of our paddlers, three quarters of us are uni students, and drink more beer than all A div teams put together I think we do pretty damn good
ABCDEFG div... dosnt matter, we are all awesome friends and have a blast, isnt that what DB is about?

I would have to say the Hydrophobic Dragons have very consistent times in all events, and well no matter what teams were missing from Center Island there is no way you can diminish an "A" division finalist especially if you are not one on the 4 teams that beat them! I would say the Hydrophobic are Hot and to watch for them in the up coming races. |

| Re: Hot New Teams | July 4 2006, 5:27 PM |
Any team that makes an "A" final has the right to be there.
If the other teams are so pompous to suggest that they would have made a difference.
Well you didn't because you were not there.
Good to any crew in the top three divisions. |

If I was there... probably coming from all those that went to Ottawa and had a great time.
Next year please go to Ottawa again, we had a blast at the Island this year and there was no bitching about lanes, washriding or anything after the event. |

I love the were awesome cause we never practice arguments. Almost as good as the were awesome cause we drink beer on top of paddling. Your young, your supposed to be able to drink beer on top of physical activity. I'll have you know that most of the teams that beat you in Stoufville had 20 years of good drinking on you, and some never even practiced together, not once. |

And good job to the teams that beat us in Stoufville. Theres always gonna be somebody better...

| Re: Hot New Teams | July 5 2006, 3:48 AM |
Although there was a clear difference in calibre between the top 4 teams and Hydrophobics at the island it doesn't change the fact that they were in the A division and were the next best team at the island that weekend. And if the top 30 teams showed up to every race I'm sure you would find that the placings would be quite similar in every festival.
But they don't. There's no point to show off your muscles and pick at the past. Personally I'm more concerned about having fun in the present.
Please read the more important message below:
where = "Where are you?"
wear = "I wear pants."
were = "They were happy yesterday."
we're = we are = "We're happy now."
your = "Your hat is cool."
you're = you are = "You're very tall with that hat on."

| Hot new teams. | July 5 2006, 11:27 AM |
I have to agree that Telus and ETS are hot this year. Telus has shown well in Lachine and Ottawa, and ETS have proven to be the cream of the University crop (so far) this year.
No one really impressing me out of T.O. at this point. At least, no one that I wouldn't have already expected to be fast, eg Senior DBC and G&G.
And continuing to impress in the "rumour of their demise have been greatly exagerated" column, the Imps. As usual. Won't this team just die already?
hey, just kidding. |

| Re: Hot New Teams | July 5 2006, 6:00 PM |
As much fun as it is to subjectively hype teams base on little to no information, why not look at what the data says.
It is true the true rankings will not be adjusted to the same times as the previous year. However, if the other teams around you are posting faster times this year, and you're going slower when compared to last, you are clearly falling behind.
Let's dispell some myths and acknowledge some facts. This excercise is ballpark, but compared to last year some teams are posting faster true rank times while others are posting slower.
Ex. Last Year vs. Current Year
G&G - 2:04.2 1:58.9 Improved Team
Collingwood - 2:12.0 2:09.1 Improved Team
Shockwave - 2:15.0 2:10.1 Improved Team
Hydrophobic - 2:13.4 2:10.3 Improved Team
CIBC - 2:16.3 2:13.9 Improved Team
Holding Own
Shogun - 2:10.6 2:11.1 Status Quo
(these guys improved a lot over the course of last year)
WaterDragons - 2:12.6 2:12.2 Status Quo
Mofos - 2:10.8 2:12.6 Slipping Down
Verdun - 2:06.4 2:08.1 Slipping Down
Imps - 2:05.1 2:06.9 Slipping Down
I intend to print year over year difference both in ranking and time once the Montreal Data has been added.
Cheers

| Who's Hot | July 18 2006, 4:00 PM |
I would have to say that the Hydrophobic Dragons are a hot team. I had the pleasure of paddling with them last year and these kids can really paddle. In between races, they play football, volleyball etc and they still have the energy to paddle with with alot of power. They are definitely a team to watch. |

| Re: Hot New Teams | July 21 2006, 1:39 AM |
And I would say that you just leave your comments in your mouth, because teams like hydro don't need you praising them. Recognition comes with time, no need to start a brush fire which might turn into a forest fire, let the results speak for themselves. |

He's responding to the topic, dolt. What is a hot new team in your eyes? An established group of flat wter paddlers who have been paddling for years? I suppose people new to paddling just can't cut it in dragonboat then. I agree that Hydrophobic Dragons are a hot new team. |

West Rouge Canoe Club raced under SRS because they were given the spot, so their real name is West Rouge Canoe Club not SRS,, i believe |

| Re: Hot New Teams | July 31 2006, 3:52 PM |
SRS is not a team, it is a company that provides sponsorship to teams. Therefore and SRS team could be MCC one year, WRCC another or, as it was at the Island and in Montreal, a mixed group of paddlers. |
