Crew looking for paddlers

July 5 2006 at 9:24 PM

Hi Everyone,

A crew I coach at Sunnyside has decided to keep paddling for the rest of the summer and race at GWN (Ontario Place) in September. The crew ("Fired Up") raced in the women's division at the Island, and is now planning on going mixed the rest of the way, as about half of the crew is planning on staying on. However, they are having some trouble recruiting paddlers to fill the crew, especially those of the male variety.

So, this is an appeal for paddlers of all talent levels, including beginners, and especially males, who are looking for a DB crew for the summer. Please let your friends know if they are interested.

The crew will be training Tuesdays and Thursdays at Sunnyside, with two practices at the end of August/September at the GWN site at Outer Harbour.

The current crew members are a friendly, enthusiastic bunch of young (24-30) ladies who enjoy hard work (and long walks on the beach) but do not forget that paddling should be fun. Most of them have paddled a couple seasons prior to this summer, but a couple are just a few months into the sport, but even I forget this sometimes!

If you are interested, fire the team captain Lenora (lenoradelaney@yahoo.ca) or myself (dave.paskar@utoronto.ca) an email.

Thanks, Dave

This is almost too good to be true! Unless...there is a reason why they can't recruit any guys...

This sport has a lot of 30-something vagely creepy men scavanging from team to team... so get ready for a lot of interest.

In an attempt to answer multiple questions in one shot:

1st in "C" division, BUT! We were a fraction of a second off 1st in division "B"... In any case...lets be serious about what's important...We're super Hot...and lookin' for love in all the wrong places... We need 7 male paddlers...and one female(managed to break arm this weekend...but will stand strong as mighty captain/drumming motivator with sling that matches eyes...'cause it's all about me...)

And Dr. Dave...well... who could ask for more!! It's promised to be an invigorating season...L.

If you haven't already found people, you may be hard pressed as I'm sure that most readers of this forum are paddling with a team for GWN already. If GWN allowed you to paddle on more than one team, I would be very interested in joining your crew too.

Just look for the "super Hot" chicks, one of whom will have an arm in a sling that matches her eyes. Does that help?

I'm strangely aroused. Is that wrong?
