Be aware that a faster time this year need not mark improvement (only approximate). However, if the competition around you is slowing down and you are speeding up then you are certainly moving up.

Hey PD, any plans to add the trends to the rankings.. I vaguely remember you added arrows to show if a team was on the rise, falling or staying about the same.

Aside from G&G at the top of the list, you have to go down to the #12 team (Collingwood) before you a team that is rated at having improved.

Funny that, since racing conditions are overall better this year than last year. Higher water levels, fewer weeds, etc.

A result of early season racing being slower and latter season racing being faster?

Perhaps improvement relates to placing and position as opposed to actual time?

Often teams strategize for lane placement or to advance based on position rather than time. Though I think PD analysis is excellent and shows relative positions of teams, it cannot weigh the many random factors that happen on race day.

Time is important ....... winning is more important.

Is the Sudbury Canoe Club the Chiros?

Sudbury Camoe Club are the Dragons. Chiro is not on the list yet - only one festival raced at Ottawa I think.

"4:28" has it perfectly correct. The improvement is all relative to other teams. Suppose Adrenaline is just as fast this year as last, but the other teams they typically race against are pulling away from them, then the ranking will show that from a relative standpoint Adrenaline is getting slower.

The reason in part that there seems to be less improvement in the top teams is that G&G improved so much. This makes everyone else look a little weaker, although the rankings still suggest that Mayfair -0.2, Hanalei -0.8, and Big Fish -0.5 (all ahead of Collingwood) all kept up and in fact improved relative to the teams they typically race.
