Thanks Lively Dragons for a Great Regatta - Hamilton

July 9 2006 at 12:06 PM
Toronto Masters

The Toronto Masters Ladies (and a couple of guys) want to thank Ramsay, Jackie and the Lively Dragon organization for a great day at Hamilton - the event was run so well and boy, talk about a lot of racing - 3 - 500, 1- 250 and the best, a 2000 metre.

Great recognition for coxes and winning teams - yeah, medals!

We are just sorry we didn't bring our entire complement of team mates - great tune-up for CCWC.

Thanks again, and we'll be back!

Of course they don't have to thank everyone.
Just happens when you are connected to Lively Dragons even though you compete
for the Toronto Masters - you like to congratulate yourself.

It's interesting that when you want to share a positive experience, people still have to post negative comments. And as for being affiliated with Lively Dragons, huh???? We have a GM paddler from the organization paddling with us, is that an affiliation?

DBs are always looking for good venues, ones that are run on a timely basis, have friendly volunteers, give medals and that are priced reasonably - so, from our experience, Stouffville and Hamilton so far have fit the bill.

Welland - was good value too!

Sorry, if some people look at positive experiences and think it worth posting.

Maybe you won't see anything posted from us about Montreal, but I'm hoping you will.

500 m results
Paddlers Anonymous won in a time just over 2 minutes.
Citigroup was a close 2nd, about a second back.
Black Pearl (yes, they were dressed up like pirates, sort of) 3rd place.

No idea who won the 250 race.

The 2000m was excellent. Maybe the best course to run it, great markers, good wind to blow the boats all over the place, chaos at the corners.
The boats started 15 seconds apart (i think), in order of start -- pull together of 20 paddlers, Kindred Spirit, Toronto Masters Women & a few men, and Black Pearl/Paddler Anon.

Masters finished first, passing well on the first 1000 metre leg. The other 3 boats crossed about the same time, so with the stagger (i'm guessing here) it was BP/PA, Kindred and throw together.

a fun regatta, 3+ races, on time, great venue. Good work Lively!
