I'm planning on purchasing a new carbon fiber paddle.
I've done some research and I've narrowed it down to a couple brands. One thing I'm not really sure about is the weight of the paddle. I've heard many conflicting arguments.
Also, which one is the most durable? I've heard stories about paddles snapping and grips falling off, etc.
For reference, here are the paddles under consideration and their weights:
burnwater = 460g
zre 16oz ~ 454g
bracsa = 490g
srs = 510g
typhoon = ?
grey owl carbon shaft = 595g
grey owl carbon 16oz ~ 454g
You should consider the Apex one too. It's advertised at 400g. Also has lifetime warranty against blade breakage.

I used an adjustable length Apex last year in Berlin, have continued to use it, and I'm very happy with it. I appreciate the opportunity to modify the paddle length depending on where I am placed in the boat, the water conditions, and the type of boat we're racing in.
I know quite a few other people who use them, and I'm not familiar with stories of them breaking in races.

I also use an adjustable Apex. It's been very good for me. Their newest model is now one piece and even lighter.

Try finding someone with the brands you are interested in or approach the rep and ask to test them out. Because paddle preference is personal, polling the Forum for input is like soving Pi ......useless
