It's a rare happy ending to a story that could have been much worse.
The Toronto Police Marine Unit has plucked three people from Lake Ontario after their small plane crashed into the water not far from the Island Airport.
The incident took place around 3:30pm Thursday, sending rescue crews scrambling to reach the site in time.
"We responded with four vessels," explains Sgt. Phil Glavin. "Located three persons in the water. Removed all three persons from the water. All living, and were able to transport them to land. They're now being dealt with by Toronto E.M.S., and at this point, there's not much else we can do. This will become a Transport Canada investigation."
There's no word on the type of plane or why it crashed, but those on board appear to have survived the crash without much physical trauma. All the injuries are reported to be minor, but the passengers and pilot have been taken by ambulance to hospital as a precaution.
