Interesting no one has mentioned this race before.
It's shaping up to be quite a strong line up of Quebec teams racing at this festival. Cash prizes being offered.
Teams registered to date
3-rivers A and B teams.
The Wongs Slayers.
Telus
BMO
Hyperactif
Montreal Thunder

Any predictions ???

Well seems like quite a line - up of teams there !
One heat has BMO - TELUS - HYPERACTIFS wow ! Those teams will pull one another to possibly the fastest morning heat !

1. 3-rivers A - very fast team will give your money's worth
2. The Wongs Slayers - still very strong, won 1st place in Montreal
3. Telus - knocking on the door, have two x-slayers with them for the last two races.
4-. BMO - strong finish in Mtl, but still behind TELUS
5- Hyperactifs - not sure why, new recruits (minus) but their women are kick ass !
5- Zoku - yeah I know, there's supposed to be only one number 5 but I'm hesitant. They have 4 men on the Elite team, good women, wondering why the hell they haven't done better !
6.3R "b" - fast team will give the oldies a run for their money on top 5

***** There is 90 % probability that it will rain (again !) ********

***** There is a 50 / 50 possibility that there may not be a "final A". So the winner of this competition may well be whoever's schedules the fastest combined race times.... *******

Telus should win.
They have 2 ex Slayers on their boat Milton and Spiros which could be the deal breaker

So much for all the 3R predictions...

3R finished 3rd in the most favoured lane, not too impressive.

Telus was impressive finishing first.

Slayers were also impressive beating 3R from a slower lane.

BMO did the best they could from lane 4 but would have most likely finished 4th from any lane.

****ty weather again.

Less than impressive race course and officiating.

Very impressive that they still award CASH prizes.

Very interesting finish Never figured on Telus winning. Who are the x wongs who jumped ship? Are they that good that they would make such a difference?

What about the chicks?

August 28 2006, 2:10 PM

Sherbrook, may have the hottest chicks per capita in
Canada... Inquiring minds want to know.

answer to ABC

August 28 2006, 4:55 PM

first i also quite suprise about Telus win over Wongs and 3R(never saw that coming)

but i dont beleived that 2 guys (even X-slayer) are responsable for the victory, im sure they help ,but still its 22 paddlers victory , lets give them credit for the effort....they killed everyone on that race(final)2.02

Wong did 2.04 in second place

i think that since Montreal bad luck (dragon head getting mouthwash)loosing momentum for the final a... Telus wanted revenge..they got it

dont get me wrong there a not the best team overall..but there getting there in a near futur

message to all the Teams from Ontario and Quebec

watch out for Telus...they mean business

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

The lousy weather must have kept it fresh.

Yeah Telus means business...sure their plan is to blind everyone with their lime green shirts...scary stuff. Must be one of their men who picked the design. Time for their girls to step in and get some style in there

What's wrong with green?

August 28 2006, 10:19 PM

Obviously you weren't there when they wore purple. At least you can pick them out of a crowd.

you must be kidding

def - "fat guy and a chinamen they suck"
Ok I'll give it to you, you're not lying about Spiros being rounder and Milton being chinese. But come on, they're some of the Wongs best!

Anonymous

No, are YOU kidding me!

August 29 2006, 12:16 AM

Spiros a fat guy? Please.. this is dragonboating. Compared to some people paddling out there, he's positively anorexic!
Two of the Wongs' best? Again, you exaggerate. Some amazing flatties have come and gone from the Wongs. These two are both decent, experienced, still in fairly fit shape, but they were, by no means, the secret weapon of Telus. Telus already has a decent team, although their taste in jerseys could, and has, been debated. That is by no means a slight on the boys. They were a definite asset to Telus, not a liability. I'm sure they paddled their hearts out for Telus and had fun doing it. But Telus winning because of them? Come on! Not fair to the other 18 paddlers on that team.

Re: Sherbrooke Quebec

its seems that some peoples(or other paddlers from what ever province) just dont like Telus for different reason...

maybe Jalousy or eeven Envy?

That why every time Telus does well(or even win in a competition), they will find any possible reason to discredit the perfomance...

personnally i beleive they have quite a good team who will eventuelly reach the top..(if they keep same good paddlers)

i mean no disrespect to any top teams and fans (On,QC,BC and others)

but its time to gives some respect to Telus

You got it Rob...

August 29 2006, 12:33 PM

is that even your real name? The whole DragonBoat community wants to discredit the telus team and outs them down whenever possible...helloooooooooooo!? It's the FORUM...that's what it's all about...and besides, 99% of the people talking about Telus...are from Telus!

Telus are a great team that I have had the pleasure to compete against. Good sports, nice guys. They don't need YOU putting out some lame ass conspiracty theory.

Rob: "That why every time Telus does well(or even win in a competition), they will find any possible reason to discredit the perfomance..."

That happens to every team that begins to do well and emerge on people's radar. (ie. Mayfair, Imps, Wongs, and on and on like the energizer bunny)

MONTREALER

yeah yeah

August 29 2006, 8:42 PM

Well I am a big Telus fan and not affraid to be so... though I paddle for another of the top mtl teams.
I've known some of them for quite a while (prior to purple jersey) and I gotta say they are a nice bunch of pple; whether it's talking about draon boating, chilling out with a beer or racing againts them.
I'm happy that they've finally emerged as a top team and wish them succes both at the QC Cup and next year.
And for those of you who've just noticed them..... you can't be from MTL ! They've shown on pple's radar since last year. Give credit where credit his due (yeah I know it's not usual on this forum to give kuddos !). Congrats Telus for your win.......................................... see you on the water !
And watch your back ! We ain't leaving you out of our radar
