You can try one of the following tried and true solutions:
1) clench and unclench your butt muscles while you're working, eating, watching TV, etc. Do at least 2000 reps per day for a month and your ass will be so tight, it will be harder than the DB seats. Problem solved.
2) replace the cushion on your office chair with a bed of nails. After a week or so, your ass will be so numb, it won't feel a thing. Problem solved.
3) go to Canadian Tire gardening section, spend $4 and buy a kneeling board. They've got about and inch of cushioning and are semi non-slip. They also come in 3 different attactive colours to match your DB outfits. Problem solved (though not as manly a solution as the first two). |

Non-slip matting (such as found in boating shops or to go under carpeting) helps. This matting is thin enough to comply with IDBF rules for what is permitted for padding in a Continental or International Nations Championship, keeps you from slipping off the seat and offers some protection to tender buttocks.
Keep paddling. The pain goes away with time (years and years and years of paddling). |

Anon at 10:47, you forgot #4
...
4) Put on 70 or 80 lbs of fat, preferrably on the "booty". It's well documented that adult white fat cells are very resilient, and squishable, sometimes even fluffy. The extra padding will not only give you the cushioning you desire, but add a few inches of height to help with the catch.

At first I thought #1 was to prevent any unexpected surprises when you DO bend over to pick up the soap. |

This is my second season without using a butt pad. I don't miss it at all. I thing I did notice last year is that I got a bit of a lump on my outside butt cheek (the one I rotate on). Eventually it went away. This year I have been incident free.
