O.k., couldn't help the cheesy heading. The article is about the lack of funding dragon boat racing receives and the effect this has on the British National Team.

http://www.wimbledonguardian.co.uk/sport/localsport/display.var.1164308.0.british_star_belding_slams_dragon_boat_shortfall.php

"She (Tamsin Belding) said: "Dragonboat racing is regarded as a sport, but we do not receive any funding whatsoever.

"Sport England and other organisations have no interest in the sport, we are entirely self-supporting."

"We need to raise about £50,000.

"This will enable us to take the whole team across to Sydney and survive for the two weeks.

"The money will be used for accommodation as well as equipment for training and racing.""

The UK is much like Canada. Only Olympic sports are considered for federal funding.
