The Outer Harbour Dragon Boat Club is inviting a few crews who are interested in a small, combined-distance tuneup for events that follow in June. This event is basically the same format as the previous GWN 3000m race held from 2000-2005 and will be very informal, but properly organized. Please read below.

OHDBC "3000m" Challenge

Date: Saturday, May 26th, starting at 9:00am. Racing should finish before 1:00pm.

Place: Outer Harbour Dragon Boat Club site on Unwin Avenue, just west of Leslie Street.

Format: 2 x 400m races for aggregate time, then a seeded 2000m race with
total time to determine final placing.

Cost: $200 plus GST ($212)

Prizes: $500 for the A division winner (4 teams per division), $250 for the B&C division winners,
one draw prize of $250 for all other teams (assuming there are 12 teams
entered, otherwise modified proportionally).

Total # crews: 12

To confirm your entry, please send an email to communications@ohdbc.ca. We will be in touch.

Thanks in advance... the OHDBC executive.

The OHDBC 3000m Challenge is what it has always been...a small "open house" regatta for our club. Feel free to come down on Saturday morning and watch the races (from 9-12 approximately). If you can ride a bike all the better...parking is limited.

Teams are:
The Wahoos
TAD
UCC Symantec
OHDBC Premier Women
Stratford Women
Hammerheads
Mayfair Warriors
Mayfair Predators

The Wahoos - CIBC minus the sponsorship? Slow and badly funded bankers -hmh...sounds kinda like CIBC after all!
TAD - Old and slow - go get another face shield or two
UCC Symantec - Shogun minus the gambling $$, whats up Stevie B??
OHDBC Premier Women - Will beat Sirens
Stratford Women - 2nd place ladies, how about the Womens regatta instead?
Hammerheads - Yet to fill a boat a practice, 3rd place and fading fast
Mayfair Warriors - B division Bueller?
Mayfair Predators - Walk in the park, and a waste of time

I predict this will be a close race if Mayfair backpaddles.

In the Hammerheads' defence, they went into the race with their mixed crew, but once the Outer Harbour Womyn saw that they had the dreaded males on their team, all the males were ousted and the Hammerheads were forced to paddle with only half a boat.

Outer Harbour Dragons.

They are the GTA component of the Grand Master team that is representing Canada at the World's in Sydney this September. They qualified last year as Eat Trout Grand Masters and include about 10 paddlers from that roster. Coached by Stan Mahachek and Steve Kwok.
