Use Febreeze antibacterial, then bake in the sun. Never failed for me. Works for lifejackets as well. |

There is no solution with most shoes. The ultimate solution is to wear Crocs while paddling. Simply rinse them out afterwards and they NEVER smell. |

Or even better, go barefoot. 20 barefoot paddlers is equivalent in weight loss to having your drummer lay off the cheeseburgers for a week. |

"The ultimate solution is to wear Crocs while paddling."
Any suggestions as to how to get rid of people who wear Crocs (while paddling, or otherwise)? |

I speak with some authority, as I have paddled extensively in both.
Crocs are ideal in drying quickly and never stinking. I know they're stupid looking, and no good for jogging during warm-up, so I got a pair of Saloman techamphibias. The Saloman's stayed soggy ALL DAY the one time I wore them at a festival, and they always stink, no matter how thorougly I wash and dry them.
I've gone back to Crocs. Ugly, but ideal for Dragon Boating purposes. |

Bleach works. Kills the bacteria that causes the stink. If they are shoes you can wash in the washing machine, wash them with bleach, or if they are plastic shoes, wipe them with bleach.
Works for me.

rinse the shoes or any neoprene in a solution of Oxyclean or generic equivalent. I am quite please with the results. Repeat as necessary. |

Croc's are for geeks! Enjoy your foot smell. When you're too old to paddle you'll miss it. |

Anyone ever try an enzyme or oxy type cleaner?
By enzyme cleaner, I'm referring to something like what you use to get the smell out of carpet where your pet has urinated =D

Listerene mouthwash works great, kills the bacteria on your shoes (and leaves them minty fresh!!) I'm actually quite serious, it really does work!!!
