I use www.photobucket.com which gives out html format so you just have to copy the line of code and add. You can do it manually, but you just have to be aware of html format and the url address to your photo.
Self promotion? On www.dragonboatwest.net, both Photag and Lethal Weapon with their nifty mega lenses and oversized hard-drives post it freely. Others just post some photos and hope you will purchase your team's pictures from a commercial site. I guess, in both cases, it is self promotion of some sort.
As for slagging one another, that's expected on a forum. The aforementioned site is semi-moderated, which gets some of the silly stuff off their site. For me, it doesn't really matter as I don't post team pictures of my team. I see them all the time. Besides, other teams that don't have spares seem to appreciate the pix (if they don't get rubbed about it too much).
As for the Gorging Dragons, they are about to make a tight counter-clockwise turn. Left seat 1 is suppose to draw, seat 2 & 3 are poking. Of course it looks better during the turn around the official boat:
