Nobody went to this year's event? No Canada? No Harvard? Because, as I can't find any results on internet, I am curious to know how it went... |

No Canadian university teams attended this year. We couldn't get an acceptable U of T crew assembled in time. |

Thanks for the responses. Italian team didn't make it this year either - too many people graduating... and too many expenses... However we are already trying to get sponsors (and paddlers) interested for next year. Hope to see at least the canadian team there next year! (provided the races are still on, that is). |

It's too bad the two-time defending champions didn't get a chance to attend the event! There will be a University of Toronto entry at Tianjin in 2008 (assuming the event still runs) so we do hope to see you, Jafar and the rest of the team in a year's time.
All the best.

My apologies..I thought someone on your team's name was Jafar! Someone in Toronto is going to pay for this!! Lol. Sorry, Maria. |

No problem, Jason - but I wouldn't be surprised if one of our crew members gave jafar as a nickname (we are very fond of them you see). I am also looking forward to seeing you guys next year. The Canadians are always heaps of fun! (I have some great photos of you guys - can I send them somewhere?) We are already moving to commit the 2 venetian unis to funding and also to get some sponsors (to help with the expenses). And I am trying to get info on the uni races in Shenyang that are held imediately after Tianjin... I know that it is 11 months away, but we are trying to plan early to keep costs to a minimum. please keep in touch (direzione@venicecanoe.com) |

Is Shenyang also part of invitational race? Do we have to pay to race there? |

yes, it seems as though Shenyang is also invitational where the crews are offered food, accomodation and transport, just as in Tianjin. It is not clear, however if transport is provided between the 2 cities if a crew wants to participate in both races. | |
