pdbc is planning to introduce a senior program in 2009. The goal of the program will be to qualify and compete at the 2010 Club Crew World Championships in Macau, China.
This program will follow the successful model of the Heat grandmaster program.
To launch the new senior program we have decided to host a 2-week training program in Pickering. This program will take place during the final 2-weeks of the fall training program and will featiure a 1-day training camp on Saturday October 25th.
Senior Program 2-week training camp practices will be:
Tuesday October 21st @ 6:00pm
Thursday October 23rd @ 6:00pm
Saturday October 25th @ 9:00am
Tuesday October 28th @ 6:00pm
Thursday October 30th @ 6:00pm (team meeting to follow)
Athletes wishing to attend should register for the fall training program www.pdbc.ca and put in the notes column (2-week training camp = $25).
The purpose of this program is to get the ball rolling on the 2009 season!
Will you adopt the same bad sportsmanship and quit when things don't go your own way attitude you work so hard to represent in your "High Performance" programs?
In all seriously I am embarrassed for you in the lack respect you show for the sport and your competition when things don't work out for you. I can't wait to watch your senior team lilly dip down a final when they don't get the lane or division they want.

I don't know what exactly you are referring to Old Fart Observer'. All that I have ever seen of the Heat GM teams has been as class acts all the way - hard working, good performances, ethical behaviour. Much more than can be said for the some of the other GM teams that are around. Fashioning a senior program around the Heat program is a great idea and should be supported.

I think they're talking about PDBC rather than Heat.

Keep observing..
The HEAT model was extremely successful and could vry well be the largest GM program on the planet in 2009.
Good luck to PDBC with the 40+ prog.

Quantity does not equal quality.

Not even the juniors would have posted this!
It sounds to me that you were cut from one of their programs and you should call yourself ‘Bitter Old Fart Observer’.
Grow up and stop the hate!

I thought 40+ is Senior not GM.

The lack of literacy is incredible on this forum.
Yes, 40+ is senior. The original post states that they are modeling a senior program after their successful GM program.

Um, no. Never have nor will I ever be associated with PDBC.
Just seen and participated in races where their "Elite" teams have behaved in that fashion. A couple examples would be GWN a few years ago and the recent Club Crew World Championships.
It would only make sense that the seniors teams would have enough maturity to NOT let themselves be encouraged to act in this fashion.
My view is not an isolated one. It is a running joke in the BD community.
Anyway, the comment may not have any place in a thread about seniors, but seeing the recruitment just reminded be what a bad influence this program is on young paddlers if that is the sportsmanship they preach and I couldn't resist.

Old Fart.
There were enough games played when the Heat were formed. Ask Coburg what they thought of
the fiasco.
As far as PDBC is concerned - the Elite Crews have gone, Fairport is the real team
to beat in the Juniors - so Pickering has got to get a new form of money making scheme going.
Entice a bunch of Grand Masters they can go to a World Championship.

Don't forget about their Under 23 program.
From what I hear a lot of them are only 18-19.
They weren't to spectacular this year, but I'd give them a couple more years to develop and they can be a team competing for top spots at many regattas.
