Pretty good article. Too bad it doesn't talk about all the ringers. |

If he was on the Premier Team I'd be impressed at his age.
However, their Senior team did not win gold. |

"It's a price he's willing to pay to make it to Prague. Championship-caliber teams in the 200-, 500- and 1,000-meter races reach the finish line in less than one, two and four minutes, respectively. That requires paddling 90 to 130 strokes per minute - more than a stroke per second."
90 to 130 strokes per minute |

Take anything Ken Wong claims with a grain (or box) of salt. |

In the Philadelphia race Sat, there was one team that did about 110-120 strokes per minute. |

"Too bad it doesn't talk about all the ringers."
How do you have a ringer on a national team?
Oh, and the article also fails to mention all the petty detractors of this team.

ringers? Isn't a national team suppose to be the best of the best? So then, I am confused what you think a ringer is. If you think a National team should be a local team from one area it wouldn't be a "real" representation of a national team now would it. Why is Dragon Boating suppose to be different from other National representations of other sports? National crew, hockey, soccer, track, and other teams are all made up of what I think you think are ringers.
I don't know maybe I don't get it. |

Nothing wrong with bringing in non-Philly paddlers for a national team.
But this? "Many of its members, including Wong, were on the U.S. team that captured the last world championship in Sydney, Australia, two years ago."
Wong was not the world championship team. He was a Senior only. Go ahead, blame the writer for the mistake... | |
