GWN Sports RegattaJune 25 2009 at 3:02 PM | Anonymous |
| So, who's going and who's winning?
Also, whats the freaking deal with this PFD chatter. I just checked the GWN site and it does say that PFD's will be required. WTF? Are inflatables allowed?
Maybe they should change the name and remove the word "sport". That's just totally ridiculous. How can people be expected to take the "sport" aspect of Dragon Boat Canada seriously when they throw the normal format out the window just to get a couple additional teams registered?
My team and all these others are paying per person, club crew sport regatta pricing as a registered crew and we are all going to have to play by non-sport rules with the stupid PFD thing?
This whole event is billed as a qualifier / warm up for the Nationals were we will NOT have to wear PFD's (unless some donkey crew wants to participate of course) and then maybe we will have to wear PFD's at Nationals also.
What do you have to say about this GWN? Can you please justify this to all of us?
As the poster said on that other thread, let the non-sport, non-DBC registered crews wear their life jackets and the rest of us who are registered get the sport exemption we have earned. it's completely up to them if they then want to register with DBC if they think it will be some huge disadvantage. |

That is way lame.
So was exculuding the pouchs (recognized as PFDs by the Coast Guard and Transport Canada) from last year's festival.

Exemption was earned or bought? Isn't it just a matter of paying dues to DBC? If DBC can't convince events to follow their sport regatta rules, then why pay the dues to be DBC? |

What's the point of a DBC santioned regatta if we still need to wear PFDs? | |
