Since Jetstart was the only constant between Alcan and GWN Sport, I used the time gaps between them and the other members of the top ten in each regatta to come up with a ranking.

Of course there are the standard issues of different Jetstart rosters, course conditions, lane depths, etc. Take it for what its worth.

Yeah, the ranking doesn't even follow the GWN results. I think he needs a do over.

The results are a time differential to one team (Jetstart) based on a snapshot of one race - the finals for each team (not even an average of that festival time) in two different cities at different parts of the season. That's about as rough a comparison as you can get. If those teams raced head to head in a race, I doubt the results will follow too closely to the above chart - except maybe the top 3.

Sure ok, but I think that SRP finished above Heat and Big Fish finished above CSDC so how could Heat and CSDC have better differentials over jetstart than the teams that were ahead of them?

Like I said, looks like the OP (statsman) used one race at each festival (Alcan Finals & GWN Sport Finals). If you look at the results, you will see the times correspond to the differentials up top - that's why Heat is above SRP and CSDC is above Big Fish.

So given how the comparisons were done, we are basically saying they are pretty much completely meaningless based on the sample size? It doesn't even use an average of all the races at the given events.

I guess if you ignore any differences of 2-3 seconds or less you can get a rough approximation of where teams might fit. Forgetting of course that we have no idea how many of the jetstart folks that did GWN were able to make the Alcan trip.
