New Editions of DBWI Magazine and IDBF NewsletterAugust 11 2009 at 3:46 PM | Anonymous |
| Dear All,
please be informed about the new editions of
- Dragon Boat World International Magazine and
- IDBF Newsletter
being available at http://www.dragonboatmagazine.com
Both came out with one month delay.
The simple reason:
We wanted to cover the ECCCs in Budapest in the July Issue, so that we then have
enough room in the October edition for the WPFGs in Canada and the Worlds in
Prague.
Cheers
Henning

Who knew that there would be Dragon Boating at the World Police and Fireman Games.
Good to see they would cover that above say... The Nationals. I guess it's world exposure, but are any decent teams competing in this? |

WPFG? WTF are you kidding me?
Why don't you guys cover the national championships? That would probably be way more interesting. |

To be fair, this is an international magazine. While I'm sure as Canadians we would find the Nationals a more interesting read, we need to take that into account.
The Canadian Nationals will be a higher caliber event, but it may not have the same international flare that the WPFGs might have.
Maybe the WPFGs article will be a "How Dragon Boating is cross pollinating into other World Class events" type thing. |

Um, It's a club crew nationals, not a World Championships.
The fact that the National Teams are away takes nothing away from the event.
You could maybe argue that the GWN Sports Regatta had a higher overall level of competition, but the Nationals will still be a highly contested event in Premier Mixed and probably even more so in Open and Women.
I would be amazed if you could find a single National Team member who is also on a Club Crew that is competing that isn't going to try and follow the event as closely as possible. I would expect a whole lot of overseas hits on the results site.
I frankly really don't see where your comment is coming from. |

Great post! My club will have several paddlers in Prague and we are still racing in Montreal. I know that our club members in Prague will definitely be keeping a close eye on our results. |
