I didnt know about the 14 US bidders for the 1996 Games. Thanks for that!
Yes,its true about the IOC and the memories they have of Atlanta.Personally,I thought Atlanta was a great games and was unfairly treated by the media.
I have never seen the relationship of the Winter Games to the Summer Games anyway. The winter Games will always be held in the far Northen Hemisphere, while south of the Tropic of Cancer,we will proabably never see a Winter Olympic Games(maybe New Zealand would be the only possibility one day).
The Summer Games are more spread out and when Africa and South America develop, they too, will get their turn.
Anyway,I still think 2008 will be Torontos best chance.Apart from Beijing,Toronto is certainly one of the major favourites.
2012 could be a different story. If 2008 went to Beijing,Toronto would have to contend with a very strong US bidder,a strong European bidder(probably Paris and London)...an African bidder(Cape Town) and maybe a strong south American bid.
Go for 2008!!!..Its Canadas best chance!!!
