Have some sketchy history on the Armstrongs, but apparently two brothers, James and John came the Owen Sound area from Ireland in the 1850's. I see that James had a son Thomas. My grandfather, whom I never knew, was one Thomas Herbert Armstrong, apparently from the Chesley area. He married Matilda Jane Boddie on March 31st 1903, and settled in or near Owen Sound. He apparently was a labourer/barber and moved the family to Port McNicoll around 1912 and worked for the CPR. He later abandoned the family (4 boys: Clifton Earl 1905-1995, Thomas Albert 1907-1995, Keith Rutherford (my father) 1911-1974, and James Maxwell 1916-1918.
