I am looking for information about the Nickle family - also spelled Nicol and Nichol in various documents.
James Nickle(b 1802 d. 1856) m. Eliza Guin in Quebec around 1840. Their children were: James b 1841, MaryAnn b 1843, Elizabeth b 1848, Richard b 1855, Simon b ?, and Joseph b 1856. All the children, except Joseph, were born in New Glasgow Quebec. Joseph's birth is recorded in Wesleyan Church records for Proton and Eliza(his mother) is listed as a widow. James Sr is buried in Mount Zion Cemetery in Egremont. The family obviously relocated from Quebec to Ontario, probably Egremont, although there is no census info to back that up. Richard m Janet Kerr in Holstein in 1855 (my ggrand parents) and the family migrated up the Bruce Pennisula, to the Manitoulin, where my grandmother was born in 1896, and eventually settled in Sault Ste, Marie. James Jr married Eliza Kinnell, and we have located the family in Harriston. Unfortunately, we can find nothing relating to Eliza Guin Nickle or her sons Simon or Joseph. Any help would be appreciated!
