Nelson and Elizabeth Brown are my great great grandparents who immigrated from England to Canada in 1867 with their son, Henry; they settled in the Owen Sound area,Grey County. They had a second son, Robert who was born in 1868; he was living in Northern Ontario at the time of his brother, Henry's death in 1936. We do not know what became of Robert or if he ever married. Nelson died of accidental drowning on May 15, 1875 which occured in one of the Great Lakes; the Meaford coroner attended the examining of death. Nelson was a Tanner/shoemaker by trade. His wife, Elizabeth had two sons, Henry and Robert to raise on her own; she remarried to a Duncan McAllister.
Henry married Catherine Robertson in Annan, Grey County, Ontario; they had a son, Charles Nelson Brown who married Alice Alean Clemett of Omemee, Ontario. They were married June 15, 1906 in Victoria, BC and they had four daughters; Catherine, Lillian, Dorothy and Irene. They are buried in Hatley Memorial Gardens (Park) & Crematorium in Colwood, BC outside of Victoria, BC.
