Hi: I have some on the Gillies family as I am a diect descendant.They were from Galston, Scotland and they came to York County; my grandmother, Ellen Young, took the train to Collingwood from King,York County and with her dad and mother and went to John McVannel's after they came by steamboat to Owen Sound. Then they went to Lake Charles. Janet Gillies was a cousin. John McVannel born in Scotland circa 1823 was married to Janet. John, the son married in 1885.
