We were at the Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery( Darkies Corners) yesterday and saw the grave stone for Matthew Henry Edmonds of August 8 1868. It is placed on a cement slab between two other Edmonds stones from a much later date. It appears that the "Matthew" stone was moved here from the old original cemetery at the top end of Queen St. in Durham which was cleaned up 50? years ago except for a dozen or so stones remaining. A frame church (burned 100? years ago) is reported to have been at the top of the hill. A friendly long time resident couple (Betty) living across from the Queen St. cemetery has much infomation. Perhaps the Durham Chronicle or Own Sound Times have archived information.
