I have a copy of Sarawak Saga. Yes there was a light house in Presqu'ile. According to the book the light house was built in 1873. The only keeper listed was John McKenzie, and he allowed his younger daughter to assist him. Her duties consisted of lighting, extinguishing, and cleaning the lamp.
My maiden name is Sutton, but I am not sure if there is any connection between my family, and Catherine's family. I do have a little information on Sophia Sutton, and her family. I have kept everything I have found so far on Sutton's in the area, as there may be a connection, but I am in the process of switching over my database to a new computer, and would have to look up what I have.
