Further to Alans answer to a question about high Nitrates can anyone give me a home made design for a trickle tower which they have had sucess with.
I have a 2000 gallon pond (probably overstocked) in which I installed my own design of trickle tower last year to help reduce blanket weed.
The fish seem healthy enough and other parameters are within limits with steady pH 7.8 so I know that the nitrification process is working fine.
But my trickle tower didn't seem to help and I had to mix up the well know pink powder to kill the damn green string.
For the record my design was to pump part flow through a B & Q water butt with flocor in it returning to the last stage of my filters.
Looking forward to a few replies and a weekend in the garage working on a new design.
