I've had two sterlets with my Koi for three years without problems between them. They do seem to be a bit brainless. Make sure you get sterlets so they won't outgrow the pond like the true sturgeons. I agree with the other contributors, avoid diamond's and any other "growers". The only problem, which has already been mentioned, is getting the food to stay on the bottom long enough for the sterlets to eat before its hoovered up by the koi. My sterlets don't seem to like the sinking pellets. I usually throw in some garden worms keeping the koi away until the sterlets have eaten.
