Sorry Sean I haven't got to the stage of fitting yet . I will not have your problems though (hopefully) as i am working off of 1.5 " pipe returns .
I will add a ball valve before and after the pump and filter system on the skimmer line . I'll then just connect the aquamax using 1.5" female thread .
I take it you are talking about the line from your bottom drain as you are talking abt 4 " pipe . If so then what filter system are you using . Gravity / Pump type etc . Have you thought about placing a pump elsewhere in your set up . What gauge returns do you have ?
