hi sandy i am a keen angler as well as fish keeper, although i have never heard my own fish make the type of sounds you are discribing i have heard the same sounds whilst carp fishing usally at dust or just after dark. It will must definately be the fish, as i live in the uk where there are no bull frogs lol. hope this helps, Ian (a fish nut)
