From what I read, you are correct. I'm planning on getting a 7500 gph pump or two 3750 gph pumps for my 15000 pond (in process). In fact from what I have been reading here I may start out with just the one pump (3750, will turn it once every 4 hours) because of it will be stocked quite low in the beginning.
Question for others....
As the size of the pond increases would you say that the turnover rate can decrease? Assuming normal stocking levels. Maybe turn over 1 every three hours?
Does it ALL depend on stocking?
10 lrg koi in 5k gal pd turn 1/2 every 1 hour (2500 gph pump)
5 lrg koi in 5k gal pd turn 1/4 every 1 hour (1250 gph pump)
2 lrg koi in 5k gal pd turn 1/8 every 1 hour (625 gph pump)
1 lrg koi in 5k gal pd turn 1/16 every 1 hour (300 gph pump)
