my first pond they wouldnt hand feed which was ground level i have a new pond now which is raised it has been running for about 3 months with all new stock. it is also heated (which i think makes all the difference for taming your koi) as soon as i go near the pond they are waiting forme if i put my hand in i have a koi on each finger sucking away my mates is also ground level unheated and he cannot get them to hand feed either i thin a raised pond helps as you are closer to them all the time so they get use to you being there hope this helps
